Who needs one

Indian citizens from outside the state need an Inner Line Permit (ILP). Foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit (PAP) instead. Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur also ask Indian visitors for an ILP; Meghalaya, Assam, Tripura and most of Sikkim do not.

How to apply

Apply online through the Arunachal Pradesh government's e-ILP system. Find the link on an official district website ending in .nic.in, because third-party sites copy the look and charge extra. You'll need a photo ID and a passport-style photo. A small fee applies.

How long it lasts

Tourist permits are usually issued for a set number of days, and you can extend them in person. Carry a printed copy and your original ID: there are checkpoints on the main roads.

If you travel with us

We apply for your ILP or PAP before you arrive and carry copies for every checkpoint. Send your ID on WhatsApp and we take it from there.

Rules, fees and timetables change. We check these guides regularly, but confirm locally before you travel.

Rather we handled it?

We sort permits, crossings and stays for every Eastloom traveller.
